It is famous worldwide for having the best sailing and it is a favorite Canadian and American destination for yachting, hunting and fishing.

Spanish has a FULL SERVICE Four Seasons Complex and Municipal Marina with 125 slips serviced with water and electricity.  In the community, there are year round resorts/accommodations whether you are a camper, boater, hunter or fisherman.

Downtown there are many local businesses such as: restaurants, gas stations, bank, post office, gift shop, liquor and beer store, auto and boat repair, grocery and convenience, hardware, and a hair salon.  There are also a variety of other services including medical, dental, chiropractic, schools, municipal and a public library with high speed internet access.  In the warmer months, there is a Farmer’s Market with local fresh produce and crafts.

Throughout the year, there is an abundance of recreation activities to do whether indoor or outdoor.  There are many clubs and organizations you can join whether it the Spanish Horticultural Society, North Shore Anglers and Hunters, the Scrap Booking Club, the local bowling league or a committee.  For the outdoor enthusiast, there is an ice fishing derby in March, snowmobiling on the groomed trails in the winter, bird watching, kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking, fishing and hunting.  There is also the celebrated annual “Fun Days”, - a family filled weekend with games and activities, a baseball tournament, and canteen with a beer garden - recreational dances, roller blade rink and a paint ball park.
